Interior designer Summer Thornton pursued the remodeling of an early 20th century French Tudor in Evergreen Park, Illinois in a masculine way. The house has been renovated for a single man – one who likes to entertain – and the plan allows for ample growth and guests. With its classic French range and industrial touches, the great kitchen is a healthy mix of modern warmth and robustness. A long island with a marble top runs in the middle of the kitchen-living room and ends with a round dining table. Large baskets under the island provide additional storage space in the kitchen. Thornton’s company designed and built all of the cabinets, including the pillars of rustic open shelving on either side of the range.
