Spiky couple chairs are the result of the creative experience of a Mexican designer in Europe. Valentina Gonzales Wohlers designed it on the basis of the classic French oval chair that was used during the reign of Louis XV. Originates from the Rococo and has since been adopted throughout Central Europe. Though she added the nopal cactus decorations to symbolize Mexican heritage and national pride. According to legend, the gods asked the Aztecs to build Tenochtitlan (now Mexico City) on the spot where they saw an eagle standing on a nopal devouring a snake. To this day, the image is on the National Shield. The mixture of these two iconographic elements allowed Valentina to create a very original pair of chairs.
