Modern Wooden House On Lake Okoboji

This home was designed by MinDay and is located in rural Iowa, Lake Okoboji. The entire design is centered on the lake and consists of a series of spatial frames that offer areas as private as public. The lake itself is surrounded by numerous oak trees that form a beautiful canopy around the lake and separate it from the vastness of the farmland behind. The frames of the house provide extra privacy for the owners when they are at home. The living areas are open to the lake and the woods, but optically closed to the neighbors on the sides. The exterior of the house consists of sustainably harvested Ipe cladding, concrete, and aluminum panels. The interior continues the naturalism theme and has lots of wood details and neutral colors.
