UNStudio’s Collector’s Loft is the ultimate living space for storing and displaying things. The loft is located in Greenwich Village, Manhattan. The main color theme there is white, so everything presented there contrasts with the surroundings. The main walls of the loft flow through the space and, together with articulated ceilings, create hybrid conditions under which exhibition areas merge into living areas. While the walls form a calm and controlled backdrop for the works of art, the ceiling in your room is an articulate expression of this transition. By exchanging light and opacity, the ceiling creates a field of ambient lighting conditions and local lighting conditions and forms an organizational element in the exhibition and in the living areas. In addition, the former windows in the south wall have been replaced by floor-to-ceiling glass panes that offer a convincing view over an all-glass balcony towards downtown Manhattan. Don’t you think that collector’s homes are reminiscent of IT entrepreneurs?
