The SheOak House designed by Base Architecture is located in Kingscliff, New South Wales, Australia. The black box on a property on the beach is designed to be informal, casual, comfortable and inviting. The 350 square meter house is made of a mixture of steel, wood and concrete. It is resistant to weather conditions such as wind, salt and sun. The double high entrance with grass underfoot and natural landscape consists of a half indoor / outdoor area made of clear weather boards. The area is designed so that the wetsuit can be kept in the hidden laundry and the surfboards can be put down. The ground floor has a fairly simple open floor plan and opens to a courtyard and pool. Upstairs are simple bedroom and bathroom furnishings that interact with the ground floor and entrance through a series of cavities and openings. Overall, this home evokes openness and a casual sensation that is typical of what a beach home should be.
