Bringing industrial spaces to life is a hot trend today, and following the trend, Schappacher White Architecture converted an American Express warehouse into a cool, modern Hudson loft. The architects carried over the main features of the building to the loft by using materials and inspiration from the warehouse – chemically aged steel wall panels, steel baseboards, or specially aged lighting fixtures. The living room is located next to the kitchen and has wall treatments, which the architects call “liquid metal wall”, as they can change their appearance when the light shifts. The interior is by and large modern, full of light and cool designer lighting and furniture. There are lots of industrial touches, but the space still looks cozy.
