Rottedam Villa Melting Old And New Together

This villa by Ooze Architects is called Rotterdam. It’s a large, 549 square meter, modern space with modern, somewhat surrealistic architecture. The original house was built in the 20’s and then renovated. The owner wanted the soul of the old house to be preserved, so the house was rebuilt while keeping some old details. The new and the old come together, in fact they have melted together. The old does not go away, it is improved and all the forms of the original are still there. The new reacts to it and explodes the space, creating an interesting expression. Everything inside is modern, but with a hint of the old days. The walls are decorated with simple light wood, the floor is dark. There isn’t a lot of furniture to enjoy the architecture.
